The Kansas City Chiefs have revealed their plans to renovate GEHA Field at Arrowhead, which will cost $800 million. This change will start in 2027 after the stadium hosts World Cup play.

Renovation Plans for GEHA Field
On Wednesday, Feb. 28, Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt and President Mark Donovan unveiled the Arrowhead Reimagined initiative. The club's goal of remodeling GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium will be represented. As a preparation for their first analysis, the presentation will cover the remaining elements that must be considered. There is an estimated cost of $800 million for the renovations that will be made to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. Thus, the Hunt family will reportedly be responsible for paying $300 million.
Some people speculated that the Chiefs might use the site that Kauffman Stadium abandoned for an entertainment district when the baseball team and current Chiefs neighbor announced their intention to relocate to the downtown area at the location of The Kansas City Star.
According to Mark Donovan, president of the Kansas City Chiefs, this venture represents a significant public-private relationship. The stadium retrofitting process required to meet FIFA's specifications for World Cup play could be initiated in 2027, giving construction sufficient time to complete the necessary modifications.
On the other hand, on Tuesday, Apr. 2, voters in Jackson County, Missouri, will decide whether or not to extend a tax of three-eighths of a penny. The funds have been utilized to maintain Truman Sports Complex in Arrowhead and Kauffman Stadium. In addition, the Royals have plans to relocate to a new ballpark in the downtown area when the present lease ends after the 2030 season.
Moreover, all aspects of the 52-year-old facility would be included in the scope of the remodeling project, including the seating bowl, the luxury facilities, and the camping scene. Players, VIPs, and other special guests would have a better access point due to the construction of a new parking deck that would be constructed. It would be easier for supporters to go from the parking lots to the arena if there were new pedestrian bridges. The proposed improvements included the installation of newly designed ribbon boards, a three to four times enlargement of the video boards situated at each end of the stadium, and a renovation of the suites that were already present throughout the venue.

Mixed-use facility in the Stadium
The Chiefs intend to construct a 360-degree upper concourse for the first time since the stadium was built in 1972, making it easier for fans to move around the stadium and enjoy the excitement of the game. Additionally, it would result in the establishment of additional food stations, restrooms, and merchandising sections, which would help reduce congestion in other stadium areas.
However, research findings indicate that such an investment would not result in a profitable return on investment. Since this was the case, the project's scope was reduced to Arrowhead alone. The objective is to preserve the stadium's history and mystery while offering supporters the facilities often seen in more contemporary stadiums across the National Football League.
